There are also a few plush squeeze toys out there with David's mellifluous voice being called forth when you squeeze the teddy bear or arctic hare in just the right spot.

During his time living in Minneapolis/St. Paul, Minnesota David was a member of the resident acting company for The Children's Theater Company where he appeared as The Executioner in The 500 Hats of Bartholomew Cubbins, Oberon in A Midsummer Night's Dream, the voice of Smaug the Dragon in The Hobbit and Eddie in David Rabe's Hurlyburly. These experiences range from one day workshops to one year residencies.

A versatile musician (vocalist, guitarist & bassist), David has performed music from Brahms to Zeppelin throughout Asia, the USSR, Europe, Canada and the USA. He has sung with the Minnesota Opera in performances of Casanova's Homecoming and South Pacific and was the featured baritone soloist in The Messiah, Schubert's Mass in G, the Bach Christmas Cantata and most recently Brahms' Ein Deutches Requiem with the Missoula Symphony Chorale; only to return home and scream out Led Zeppelin's "Dancin' Days" on the main stage of the new Guthrie Theater.

Currently, David serves as Coordinator of Contemporary Worship Music for Incarnation Lutheran Church in Suburban St. Paul, Minnesota. During his nine years with Incarnation, David has also recorded six CD's of his music with The U*B*U Band; "U*B*U", "Drink It Up", "Yes I Can", "I Believe", "When The World Sings Together" and the forthcoming "Feed The Hungry". A true practitioner of the axiom, "If you steal from one composer it's plagiarism. If you steal from more it's original", David's music is best described as a mix between Santana, The Doobie Brothers, James Taylor, YES, Stephen Schwartz and Bob Marley (with a touch of Brahms tossed in for good measure). David's inspirational lyrics come from the pages of his life experiences as a grateful recovering alcoholic/addict.

David holds a 1st degree black belt in tae kwon do and lives in St. Paul, Minnesota. He has one son, 16 year old Niko, who is developing into a wonderful young man and a very talented guitarist/saxophone player.

David Simmons is an inspirational singer/songwriter whose recording credits include the CDs "U*B*U", "Drink It Up", "Yes I Can""I Believe", and "When The World Sings Together" all recorded with The U*B*U Band on the independent U*B*U Music/Joyful Records label.  Here's what the customer reviews

Reviewer: A music fan from England: The slick performances here show a band with a lot of potential. The songwriting is as slick as the performances.

Reviewer: Toyman from North Saint Paul, MN United States: This band continues to improve with each release. Just when you think you can categorize their music, it changes, twists and turns into an enjoyable ride. If you're tired of all the they play on the radio (over and over and over and over....) and are looking for something that will move your soul from the inside, rather than be preached at, then give it a listen or two.

Reviewer: RedGold from Golden Valley, MN United States: Need a spiritual lift? This music will do it for you ! Great music, lyrics and soul. It is obvious that this man has a real faith and the conviction to share it. Thank you for sharing your gift of song with all of us.

Reviewer: A music fan from North Oaks, MN United States: Powerful new music!! While this is a genre of rock that is overlooked, YES I CAN is one of the best albums I have heard. It combines styles and nuances not seen in most mainstream albums. The Music jumps from a Latin groove in The POWER OF LOVE, to Jazz in JESUS LOVES ME, to something quite hard to pin down in the title soundtrack YES I CAN. For anyone looking to be inspired and driven to bounce, this is the CD.

His  international touring and performing experiences have included traveling to over 20 countries on 4 continents including Moscow Russia, Vienna Austria, Paris France, South & North Korea, The Philippines, Okinawa, Oman and Diego Garcia.  David has also starred as Matthew in numerous regional productions and national tours of Harry Chapin's Bluegrass musical "COTTONPATCH GOSPEL".   Here's what the critics had to say,

"...David Simmons (is) featured in a tour de force performance."
-David Hawley, St. Paul Pioneer Press Best Bets

"He's a dynamo of ebullient energy who's right on top of his timing, and body humor too, - a talespinning Pavarotti who slides from pianissimo to forte as he darts up and down the scale of incidents and characters, (*over 30 different characters in all!).   He is the show and the reason for seeing it"
            -Carla Waldemar, City Pages

"The backbone of the production is David Simmons as Matthew - and everyone else.   Simmons' storytelling apostle is a delightful blend of fiery evangelism and heartfelt compassion.  He deftly switches into the many characters that populate this saga, and does an exceptional job with the pivotal character of Jesus, imbuing him with straightforward earnestness and gentle humor.  Simmons also possesses a powerful   voice, commanding stage presence and enough energy to light up every Christmas tree in the western suburbs.  It's a winning performance that carries the show."
            -Timothy S. Streeter, Skyway News

"David Simmons, who plays all the characters, is smashing..."
            -Mike Steele, Minneapolis Star-Tribune
